What’s been happening at Monster Legacy

In the last few months, I received some amount of fan mails that asked me if I would reprise work on this website. I realized then that, amid a slew of things, it has been a whopping five years since my last article here on Monster Legacy. Don’t believe I can say that without the heaviest of regrets. In late 2023, I finally launched The Manhattan Project, something I had been working on for the better part of a decade, but that also currently sits unfinished, with 13 Godzilla crewmember and artist interviews yet to be edited and released, as well as a dozen more chapters still in the draft stage. This not to mention interview material for other films like Mimic and Alien: Resurrection, recorded in the previous years.

The bitter truth behind this is I couldn’t keep up with everything I tried to do. In 2022, I began suffering from important health issues. I believed I could still maintain activity on this blog, once the Godzilla ’98 project was done and released in its entirety. Life, however, threw me one curveball after another and my health worsened, something that affected and continues to affect most aspects of my daily life. While I am in relatively better shape compared to last year, I still struggle, with no say on when I’ll finally be at full capacity again. The health issues smother my ability to focus, research and write, and in the meantime this website keeps gathering dust.

This is not to say that Monster Legacy is dead, rest assured. It is merely slumbering. I just cannot guarantee on when it’ll awaken again with more fresh content, since it’s not something I can really predict. I hope it’ll be soon enough. In the meantime, thank you all for the continued support and attendance to Monster Legacy.

Yours sincerely,

David

  1. Yoooo!

I’ve been on Monster Legacy since way back when, and always keep it bookmarked for when I need interesting or obscure production detes.

Health must always come first. The work you did still stands and the site remains a cool little place, so if updates happen they happen and no worries otherwise. Monsters can sleep in the ice until some reckless mishap comes and sets them free once more, timeless way to start a movie and a good lesson in resting until the time is right.

    keep it real!

  2. Best wishes to you on your recovery, David – your health should absolutely be priority #1. We fans of your hard work on Monster Legacy can wait and enjoy re-reading the wealth of articles you have online until you’re ready to jump back in.

    Cheers, Ryan
